Can’t Help Falling in Love - Fleet Foxes

My love for Fleet Foxes has become even greater.

“Wow, the world looks different turned upside down, like looking through a kaleidoscope of the clouds, which ways up as it spins around, no gravity to keep earth bound, and if the top lays lost unfound, I think I’d like living upside down. “

“We have lost the fight for love. The actual desire to fight, stand up, and defend our individual necessity and aspiration to find our personalities’ counterpart in another being. The lability in societal demands on the requirements and stipulations of ‘being happy’ has caused a laissez-faire approach to dating amongst, unfortunately, my generation. So I ask, where is the fight? Where is the overwhelming desire, suffocating passion and all encompassing motivation for love in another? The shift from human to material has occurred and the focus of our emotional appetite is now on things that anyone with a coin purse can obtain. The notion of true love has been replaced by a Houdini of contingency plans and momentary gratification. The escape plan has been drawn up and sealed prior to the first date, so its no wonder why individuals have no ambition to fight for love when they have already retreated before even reaching the battlefield. Lauper’s notion has yet to be proven, all the soldiers have fled. Regardless, one still hopes with fairytale naivety that the spark to slay the proverbial dragon still exists and is only laying dormant amongst us awaiting something strong enough to spur it.”

” Rise, just rise, and greet the waiting fans, who worship at your throne, adorned with starry hands. Shine, oh shine, reflect off glass of black, glowing with a purpose, to expose the sun’s dark mask. Fall, then fall, when rays break through coal clouds, and sleep amongst the shadows, tomorrow you’ll be found.”

“Whisper sweet nothings, whisper them loud, tell me you love me, to drown out the doubt. Say them with feeling, say them with heart, tell me you love me, though we’re apart. Announce it to family, announce it to all, tell me you love me, at once I will fall.”

“Lets say one day a flower pot fell,
From a window way up high,
To strike me square atop my head,
So round it blue birds fly,
To out knock me my memories,
With a clay made tank,
Not to know a single thing,
My name would be a blank,
I’ll lay there on the pavement stunned,
With shining dirt made shars,
But even though it hit my head,
It can never hit my heart”

“I walked into the jungle,
my grave on the map,
Always careful and quiet,
to lay salt in my tracks,
But the forest, she heard me,
although silent my pain,
And to cover my tears,
she sent down her rain,
A wet calm swept upon,
The breathing and green,
And glittered my reaper,
Washed away in her stream.”
